Hi everyone–I’ve confirmed that there are still rooms available at the Pike Street Suites if you haven’t made your reservations yet. You’ve got 1 week!

I just learned today that the ENTIRE Grand Hyatt is completely sold out for the weekend of July 7th….and we only got in 3 reservations there, in the end (myself included!). Absolutely no rooms left. I’m also hearing a rumor that Pike Street Suites may be booked too.
So out of town folks—if you haven’t booked your hotel, book it soon!! The wedding block deadline is June 7th and it sounds like that weekend is filling up fast for downtown hotels with weddings, cruises and “some big event” that the Hyatt wouldn’t tell me about. Please contact us if you have any questions about other hotels in the downtown area.

Matt and I headed to the Courthouse this morning to get our license. So easy. We filled out a simple form, gave them $60, held up our right hands and swore that the information on the forms was real (literally, it’s just birthdate, birthplace and current address) and we were done! The license is now good for 60 days. It’s interesting how the marriage license law varies from state to state. Some require a blood test. Some expire within 33 days. Some expire in a year. It can cost from $4 to $80. Florida will even give you a discount if you take a 4 hour course.

The RSVP deadline is this Friday…and we’ve only gotten about 55% of the RSVPs back. Looks like we’ll be doing some calling next week!

As you may remember, when Matt and I went to Hong Kong over Christmas, we spent many hours getting pre-wedding glamour shots done. Well, the photos were finished and my parents brought it back from Hong Kong. While we were in Vegas over the weekend, we got the photo album and brought it back to Seattle. So…here’s a sneak preview of one of the photos we actually got framed:

This last weekend, Matt and I headed down to hot hot Las Vegas to attend Betina & Justin’s wedding at the Red Rock Hotel. Betina and I have known each other for 15 years and it’s funny how much our lives have paralleled each other—starting off with our mothers being childhood friends from Hong Kong, we both got into web geekery in college, swapping HTML code, then we both joined Amazon.com as web developers, then lived together and now here we are getting married within months of each other! Congratulations Betina!!! So happy you’ve found your knight in shining armour! It was a super fun wedding—first of all: it was in VEGAS. Second: I saw a ton of people I haven’t seen in a long time—Christina, Wade, Eugene, Jordan & Alex, etc…it was a mini-reunion! Here is a picture of the newly married couple:

And here we are with them a few hours into the reception:

Eeks! So that was the last wedding of any friend before we get married! We’re next! Check out the rest of the photos from the weekend here…enjoy!

We’ve had a few wedding checks this weekend! Yesterday, Sri accompanied me to Marcella’s for my first dress fitting—need to bring in the bodice, the bustline and hem it up as well as put in the French bustle. I can’t wait to see how the dress looks once it actually fits me better in a few weeks! I did learn, while waiting in my dress yesterday, how painful my wedding shoes are….so I headed over to Nordstrom’s and bought a bunch of Foot Petal inserts to ease the pain…hope that works!
This morning, Matt and I attended dance lesson #3—yup, for our first dance! I’ll keep the dance and the song a secret…but it’s been fun learning!
Lastly, this afternoon, we dropped by the local Turgeon Raine jewelry store and placed the order for our wedding bands! Whew! We’d been shopping around for the bands for the last month, visiting several jewelry stores and finally narrowed it down. We are super excited with these–and, man, it was just in time! Since we had to order them (for the correct sizing, metal, width…), it won’t be in til the 3rd week of June—cutting it close!
It’s been very fun coming home everyday and rushing to mailbox to see what RSVPs we get—super thanks to everyone who has sent them in already. We are so excited to see all of you!

Over this last week or so, we’ve been getting RSVPs back (thanks to those that have sent them in early!). I noticed, though, that a large majority of them had a light pink smudge on them. “Oh no” I thought…and after calling my mother and asking her to look at the invitation, she confirmed that the pink pocketfolds we used smudged onto the invitations somehow in the mailing process….I’m guessing through a combination of high heat and sorting machines. I even hand cancelled the majority of the invitations! Fortunately, we’ve learned through some guests that they thought the smudging was intentional—”like a pink mountain in the background”–ha! I’ve laughed it off…and all that matters in the end is that the invitations are read-able (which they are). So if you’re reading this, just wanted to let you know that the design was not intentional! Below is an invitation that I got back in the mail (I wrote the wrong zip code…good thing I have extra envelopes!):

Lucky us, though–I happened to let the invitation designers know about this for future reference in using these particular pocketfolds in this color. They felt so horrible that they are offering us complimentary personalized Thank You cards and envelopes! Score!
