How to properly fold paper
November 21, 2006 3:06 am
I had to head to the Paper Source this evening after work because I ran out of the chocolate brown backing I was using for the Save the Dates–unfortunately, they were out and my only option, aside from choosing another color, was to buy 8.5″ x 11″ sheets in the same paper weight and make the backing myself. No problem, I’ve become a pro at this over the last couple weeks. Then the lady was like “You’re not going to, just, fold it with your hands are you? Oh..no no no, the grain of the paper is going to cause ridges in your fold. You need a Bonefolder“. A bonefolder? What in the world is that? Yes, there exist tools to actually make the perfect crease, particular with thicker paper. I can’t believe I was convinced to invest in one….but I must say, after making a bunch of backings this evening, it’s a pretty nifty tool!
Speaking of, I dropped a HUGE batch of the Save the Dates in the mail today….so if you’re coming to this website for the first time, it’s probably because you received one in the mail. Yay! I’ve got a few more to send out once I can get the rest of the addresses from Matt’s friends…plus the international folks (I’m related to a lot of Canadians!). My goal is to get all the STDs in the mail before heading to Vegas at my parents on Wednesday. Whew! Almost there. Til then—Happy Thanksgiving!

My dress is HERE!
November 7, 2006 5:32 pmYup. I can’t believe it. I talked to Leah, the bridal sales consultant at Marcella’s, today and she told me that my dress came in early. WAY FREAKIN’ EARLY. I only ordered it in–what–end of August? It wasn’t supposed to come in until MARCH. How exciting is that?! I can keep the dress at the shop too so I don’t need to store it anywhere—and then do my official fittings late spring since it’s closer to the wedding date. Apparently, the designer pushed all trunk show orders a little ahead of the line so that they got done first. Sweet. I can’t wait to see it—I’ll hopefully “visit” my dress this weekend.

STDs coming together….
November 6, 2006 11:18 amSTD = Save the Date. In the crazy world of wedding planning, there are all sorts of wacky acronyms…STDs is one of them. Anyhoo…I’ve been postponing this for practically a month but we finally sat down yesterday and got Petey to take cheezy photos of us holding a blank sign for the Save the Date photobooth-inspired idea that I had. I threw the photos together in Photoshop last night and it’s really starting to come together! I’m so excited—now I just have to make about 90 more, get some addresses and send them out to all the OOT folks! (OOT = out of town)

Wedding Weekend…
November 5, 2006 7:33 pmIt was a wedding-filled weekend! Betina, Justin and Matt all stayed with us this weekend to attend Owen & Amy’s wedding at the Lake Union Cafe. We had such an amazing time catching up old friends: Jon Pak, Justin Vickerman, Christina Eggermont, Russell & Leah, etc. The wedding was really beautiful and classy–the Lake Union Cafe has a really great decor and everyone had a blast. Amy looked gorgeous in her Alvina Valenta number and all the food was delicious. The evening ended with a few rounds of karaoke even! It was the first time I’d ever seen karaoke at a wedding–and it was so fun! Congrats to the Red Team! At the end of the night, we all headed to the Hay parents hotel suite at the Alexis Hotel and hung out til nearly 3am–I’m wiped!
In other news, I got a message from Marcella’s telling me to call back because there was “good news” to tell me. I didn’t listen to the message until today when the shop is closed..but I’m really curious what it could be….would my dress possibly be here insanely early? (it’s not supposed to be ready until March)
I also got my shoes–and I love them! They even came with their own bag–my first pair of shoes with a bag.
And on Saturday, I got my first makeup and hair trial with Glynne Davies. I learned at the trial that she also did all the styling for the Amazon Beauty store photoshoots! What a small world. Anyhow, I loved the makeup and am toying with the idea of whether or not to go with the false eyelashes. Also debating whether to wear the hair up on the top of the head (as seen in the photo) or lower near the nape of my neck (more classy maybe?)
