My Wedding Weather
September 9, 2006 1:53 pmCool–just learned that weather.com has a cool feature where you can enter in your wedding date and it’ll tell you average temperature and precipitation for that date in history, as well as typical sunset time and cloud coverage. For July 7, 2007, it projects a sunset at 8:08pm, a moon of Waning Gibbeous (basically a sliver), average temperature of 74 degrees and no rain. Whew! For the last 3 years, it did not rain on that day.

Week of wedding meetings…
September 7, 2006 1:08 pmIt’s Thursday and I’ve already spent about 5 hours in wedding-related meetings–with another one this evening and a wedding show this weekend. Tuesday, I interviewed another videographer, Edit1Media. This is a couple-owned business and they were super nice and easy to talk to. They offer this “Same Day Edit” service where they edit any footage taken from before the ceremony through the ceremony and then show it during the reception after the photo montage, which is a nice touch since most guests don’t see the pre-ceremony activities. The other week, I met with Cabfare Productions–they seemed to have a hip, documentary-like feel to their approach. I can’t decide!
Last night, I headed over to meet Rented Elegance along with Janel and boy was it fun. It started off with the owner making me a watermelon martini and then heading off to a room to look at tons of photographs of the work they do. They are a one stop shop: flowers, decorations, linens, rentals, which is really nice. While looking at photos, the owner brought over a tray of cheese, fruit and crackers which we snacked on. Talk about service! Anyway, I ended up spending 3 hours over there chatting away.
One more meeting tonight with Athena Flora who is a highly recommended florist and then I’ll have some wine with Janel and talk about florist choices!

Ceremony Music booked. As for other vendors..
September 4, 2006 11:38 am
Today, I booked the string quartet for the ceremony–eventually I’ll have to pick out the music for the ceremony…hoping to get some ideas from Sara since she’s played her violin at a thousand weddings. I definitely don’t want the traditional Wedding March or Processional. Pachebel’s Canon has always been a favorite but it’s been used a thousand times.
I’ve been more engaged in the forums on The Knot but have so far stuck only to reading the local Seattle board, which has been a good source for vendor referral and information; however, yesterday, I realized there was another board just for “July 2007″ brides and now I’m a stress case from it. There were a ton of forum topics around 7/7/07 being one of the most popular wedding days in history and how it’s been hard to book vendors and stuff because everyone and their sister is getting married that day. (cross my fingers: so far, I haven’t really had too many issues with booking the vendors that I’m interested in) What stresses me the most is lots of 777 brides have already sent Save-the Dates out in anticipation of friends getting invited to multiple 777 weddings. Ack! Okay: I’m going to make a project out of getting my STD’s (save the dates…I know, these acronyms can be funny) out by end of month. I already have a good idea of what I want to put on these. But in order to do so, I need to secure at least 1 more room block (we have 1 hotel so far, whew)
I’ve also been spending time researching rehearsal dinner places for Matt’s dad as well as Sunday brunch places. I’m leaning towards brunch being at Salty’s–they have a private room, the views are awesome, and downtown hotel guests can take the hotel taxi over! (How Seattle!)
I’ve been dragging behind with flowers and videography. I met with a florist almost a month ago and have been waiting to have another meeting coordinated with another florist..but seriously, I’m thinking about just going with this first florist because he’s a one stop shop for linens, chair covers, and rentals as well. Plus, he’s gotten great reviews on theknot. As for videography, I’ve met with 2 companies so far and would like to interview 1 more ideally. I’m also trying to book makeup and hair soon as well.
That leaves cake and bridesmaid dresses as well as cocktail hour musicians (anyone know a good flamenco guitarist?)–worse case, we can just re-use the pianist from dinner time to play during cocktail hour too.
